What is a technical patent information search?
A technical search entails finding information contained in patent documentation to learn about prior art and for research and development purposes. Patents not only provide protection for patent holders, as they also provide clues and valuable data for inventors; in exchange, patent holders publish information about their invention to contribute to the growth of knowledge.
How can I
request a search service?
1. Request Form IMPI-00-011 (Technical Patent Information Request) and the "Service Payment Form" at IMPI headquarters, at IMPI's Regional Offices, at the local offices of the Secretariat of Economy, or at IMPI information booth in fairs and tradeshows. The Form IMPI-00-011 is also available and can be printed from our website in the "Forms" (Formatos) tab.
